"Don't Turn to God"

Conservative Christian televangelist Pat Robertson told citizens of a Pennsylvania town that they had rejected God by voting their school board out of office for supporting "intelligent design" and warned them on Thursday not to be surprised if disaster struck.
"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected Him from your city."
(Story by Reuters)Hopefully there's more to this story, but even if there is, shouldn't someone who knows the love of God encourage people to turn to God even if disaster should strike this community? And as Christians, what do we do when other Christians make these sorts of comments?

Well, there is the whole story about "shaking the dust off your sandals" and walking away from those who choose against the truth, but in this case I would tend to follow the Biblical example of Jonah and the Ninevites where God went the extra mile to rescue an entire city of (extremely) sinful people even though they had rejected the truth numerous times (my assumption). At least in Dover, there may be some Christ followers - right?

Someone needs to recast the vision for Pat (Did I say vision, I meant truth).
